PSU Problems

Post by 08aisaac »

I have all the parts. And I have it assembled, to an extent. But there is a problem.

I have a switching power supply, with the power switch on the back. Ya know. Meridian Xclio 450W. And my mobo has an automatic setting in the BIOS to shut down if the switch is held down for longer than 4 seconds.
And it shuts down after 4 seconds.
What should I do? I think I might have to get a new PSU, but I'm sure there is a way around this. I can't seem to find any jumpers to change the situation. It won't even attempt to boot if I don't have the jumper in place that causes this problem in the first place.

I'm pissed. Anyone have any ideas?

<EDIT>
Sorry I forgot to post links.

This is depressing me.
Did some evaluationary processes. lol. Big words.
The power supply is working fine, can run by itself for more than 4 seconds.
But for some reason, 4 seconds into being powered up, it shuts down. Jumpers appear to be fine. Hard Drives wouldn't be a problem...?
I'm going to read up on it some more, but no one else seems to be having this problem. Hopefully I can get it fixed by tomorrow.

It posted. I had it together right, the parts work fine, lalala.
I feel stupid though, no switch, lol. Put a switch on it, and it works fine.
I like the power supply, works fine for what I need. Thanks for the help.

Yeah I had the 4 pin plugged in. The parts fit together. This is my first build anyway. Trial and error.

Yes, I learned the hard way about generic power supplies. Drop the money and get a good antec or enermax to start with. Will save u many headaches later on, and probably money in the long run.

Hey, posting this from my new computer. WOOT.
The psu is not a problem. Well, a little bit.
All the rails aren't perfect, 12v is at about 12.26
and the others are like 5.12 and 3.34
I think, but the power supply isn't technically generic.
The parts are actually made by the company that makes parts for PC power and cooling. Also Antec I think...
Something some people said on the Newegg reviews, than I read it on some site. I'm not for sure, but it seems to be fine.
That's what I say, then I find myself on my back... dead.

But yeah, now I'm good, 2.8 at 3.15, temps are fine. 35C about. Of course, I have no case.
Sadly I'm running 98 atm. lol. That probably effects it a bit.

I can't seem to change the Vcore. Only the FSB. The Ram is stuck at 400Mhz.

My first upgrade is a new board.
