The GTO was a dell only card. Spec wise, it is almost like a GS. They go in this order of performance:

6800, 6800GTO, 6800GS, 6800GT, 6800GT Ultra

edit:

BTW, his has to be a GTO, becasue I am pretty sure that when he got his computer, the PCI express 6800 cards were not out yet. The GTO was the first PCI express 6800 that came out and it only came out in the Dells.

Still, the 7800GT isn't that much more than the 6800GT. ~$300.

Yeah, and that card was known as the GTO. You could not buy that card anywhere. It only came in Dells. The GTO was never an official release from Nvidia. Your card is a regular 6800 with 256 megs of ram. The GTO. There are a few regular 6800 cards that you can buy now with 256 megs of ram, but they are not to the official Nvidia reference design.

man, its not a GTO unless dell shampoo up my order. there were 3 options on graphics card at the time the 6800, the 6800 GTO, and a ATI card. what will prove that to u...?

and the GTO is DUEL DVI

vantec89 wrote:dude if you have a budgte then go for the 6800gs. its good and its a hell of alot cheaper then the 7800gt. i garuantee you that a 6800gt or gs will run anything and everything for a long time to come, no doubts about it. and really the only difference between the 6800gt and the 7800gt is the core clock and the memory clock speeds. unless you go with the god like 512md version of the 7800gtx. but, thats what im getting is the 6800gs.
HELLO are you completey stupid... there is a reason it is called a 7000 series card... newer technology.. if you think all a 7800 is is a 6800 clocked different you crazy... completely different core and different card architecture... like its a completely new beast... like the new 7900s they are completely different cards than the 7800s...

For the most part, that is all the 7000 series cards are. Overclocked 6000 series cards. There are just some minor revisions to the core, but nothing major has changed. The only difference between the 7800 and 7900 is a die shrink. This lets the core run cooler, so they were able to overclock it further.

Forgive me for not eating, sleeping, and breathing computers. I have something called a life. lol.

By the time I can afford a new mobo, cpu, and video card all at once, the 7800 will be old, and cheap as hell.

the 7900gt is the equilavent of a 7800GTX pretty much.. about 1 FPS difference in pretty much all games... and the 7900GTX is a shampoo beast... its awesome...!!!! i also like the 7600gt for the price especially... the 7600gt is what i suggest for isaac.
