There are a lot of great bands outside the U.S., here's a few.

Dir En Grey- Japan
Drangonforce- U.K.
Soulfly- Brazil
Gojira- France
Ankla- Puerto Rico

Unfortunately these are all metal bands so my taste in music is somewhat lacking.
