Why the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4? And if your buying new ram why not go with the boards memory standard?

I think your wallet would have liked a cheaper motherboard like the low end abit P35 lol. Mine died so I'm in the market for a new MB which almost means new Processor as well. So i'll be in the broke boat with you soon enough... :(

By the way when did you get the 7900gto?

I got the gigabyte on sale for 100 dollars, its a real good board, I like it (The mobo and CPU I did not buy new, bought off ebay and hardforum).

As for the ram, everything I read said that with 800 vs 1066, you're not going to notice the difference really at the point. Also, as L2 caches get bigger, the speed of the ram becomes less relevant.

If I feel like I really need the boost in performance, the ram I got will supposedly overclock to 1066 like nothing.

Ummm... A little over a year ago. Oct or Nov 2006 or so I guess. I know the 8800 gtx and gt would kick i its ass right now, but I just ran through CoD4 at 1280x1024 and settings on high and had no problems at all... that was with my P4. Load times were slow, but once the map actually got loaded, there was no choppiness at all.
