ATI has failed us again...

“A day late and a dollar short.” Cliché but accurate. The Radeon HD 2900 XT is late to the party and unfortunately is bringing with it performance that cannot compete. The GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB is $50 cheaper, performs better, and draws a lot less power than the 2900 XT.

No i beleive it because the HD 2900XT was supposed to be the lower of the 2 high end DX10 cards that ATi was supposed to come out with. The HD 2900xtx was supposed to have 1gb of gddr4 on board and was a physically bigger card then what they came out with. The 2900xtx performed between 5 and 42% better then the 8800gtx when ATi released them to be benched. There is supposed to be another release of the chips for 60nm process in a few months. If ATi can go through with this then they might be saved If not looks like they have failed. :( Im gonna hold on for a little longer.

Why hold out longer for a card that might perform the same as what nvidia has had out for 6 months already. By that time, nvidia will have their next generation stuff out and it will probably be faster than what ATI will have to offer.

Besides, all of the specs that you just listed have already been proven to be rumor anyway. Nobody has seen anything with those specs on a piece of silicon yet.

I just don't see the ponit in holding out just because you want to stay with the same brand. It looks like you might be waiting a while because ATI has already said that it wants to go after Intel in the mainstream chipset market because that is where the money is. They lose money putting all of this R&D time into gaming cards.

They did produce a few 2900xtx's and they were 12.4 inches long and they had the 1gb of ddr4. They did produce the cards and they performed better then anything Nvidia has to offer right now.

Here is a link to some pictures of what was also supposed to be released but wasnt

Why does something you cant buy, matter?? If you can't get on newegg and purchase the thing why bother talking about it, even when it comes out its not going to be worth the price. And as ford said, by the time it does come out Nvidia will have release its next gen as well or be a month away. Either way Nvidia has a good 6 to 10 month lead on whatever ATI has to offer.

By the way, that thing is huge!! I thought my nine inches was big. (lol) That thing has to be about 15 lb's lol Plus it be a power hog.

Those pictures are the OEM package that will be shipped in Dell XPS machines. The only way you will be able to get one of those is to buy a Dell.
